[SOLVED] Running WGPlus & Dropbox

Hello, I have configured my WebGrab++.config file to save the guide.xml file to a Dropbox folder from the PC that I do my editing on. I have a 2nd PC that I use with my IPTV player that I want to update the guide.xml file stored in my Dropbox folder using a Windows daily Scheduled Task. After I did my editing on the editing PC, I ran WG+ and it saved the guide.xml file in the Dropbox folder. I then copied the WebGrab++.config file to the 2nd PC and edited the location in the config file to that PC's name inside <filename>. When I try to run WG+ on the syncing PC to test it, I see errors saying the file is being used and it waits 30 sec. then cancels & eventually the process ends with no changes. Am I missing something or is there a better way to do this using Dropbox? Thank you.

You cannot (obviously) change a file used by another instance. You either wait it finish, run a merge or use 2 separate instance. If you post files we may understand better what you are ttttrying to achieve.

Hello again, I just ran WG+ on the syncing PC and it ran perfectly. I guess you have to wait awhile before grabbing from two different PC's. Unless anyone has any other suggestions I'll mark this as solved later today or tomorrow. Thanks!

Correct until the program finish what it is doing you cannot use it. After you can merge and do whatever you want.

Like i said, if you want to run 3-4 instances of wg++ you need to wait they complete, then you can merge and use one xml.

I ran WG+ on the syncing PC and it ran fine, although since no changes were done, the log shows "no changes, no update necessary !"

The only thing I have to be sure of is after I edit my config file on the editing PC and save it, before saving it to the syncing PC, I must edit the <filename> to run on the syncing PC. Other than that, this works!

Oh ok!! i thought you were running 2 different instance of wg++, which of course the second needs the first to terminate. Anyway you can also run 2 different  wg++ say one 08.00AM and one (even in a different folder) at 08:00PM, then if you need one xml guide do a merge.

Just to clarify, at this time I am working on one config file for 24/7 channels only. My editing PC is in a bedroom where I also work from home. Its more comfortable sitting at my desk adding more channels and etc. to my config file then sitting in front of a 65 inch tv in the living room. Then when I'm done for the day editing, I run WG+ so it updates the xml in my Dropbox folder that my IPTV player is linked to so my TV guide has data. The syncing PC (which I use as a SMB server for my streaming device & IPTV player, will run a daily windows task to run WG+ and update the EPG info so the TV guide will always have data. I was told you have to run grabber daily or eventually the guide will go blank.

Not really blank, if you grab 7 days your guide will not go blank, but is better to run webgrab with  <update>i</update>  in this mode will update changed shows, which is much faster then  <update>f</update> which is full / force.

Blackbear199 created a fixed_variable INI for 24/7 channels, sort of a dummy EPG. This will provide hourly EPG info with program name and descriptions. I run it requesting 5 days of info, so running the grabber by task every 2 or 3 days will keep the EPG guide filled with info.<update>i</update> is listed in my config file.

I got both PC's (edit & sync) with Boss & Dropbox working perfectly, no issues as far as I can see.

Thanks
